THE IMPACT OF CYBERSECURITY ON INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Abstract: This study aimed to assess the impact of cybersecurity on information systems within organizations. The objectives were to examine how cybersecurity measures protect data integrity, ensure system reliability, and mitigate cyber threats. A survey research design was chosen to gather quantitative data from a sample of 300 respondents, selected using the Taro Yamane formula to ensure diversity across industries and organizational sizes. The study focused on a case study of a financial institution in Lagos, known for its robust cybersecurity protocols and data protection measures. Conducted in Lagos, the reliability coefficient score was determined to be 0.86, indicating high internal consistency in survey responses. The findings indicated that effective cybersecurity measures are crucial for safeguarding information systems against cyber threats, reducing operational risks, and maintaining customer trust. The study recommends that organizations prioritize investments in cybersecurity technologies, implement comprehensive risk management strategies, and provide ongoing training to personnel to enhance cybersecurity resilience and protect organizational assets.
